
Varanasi’s Dalmandi widening drive: Six mosques to be shifted, administration assures land and funds for rebuild
Varanasi, May 17: Regarding the Dalmandi widening campaign, the Public Works Department has given instructions to shift six mosques of Dalmandi somewhere else, if this is not done then action will be taken. It has been said that for shifting these mosques, land and construction funds will be provided to these mosques.
Executive Engineer of Public Works Department KK Singh said on Sunday that 75 houses and six mosques are to be demolished in the Dalmandi widening work. He said that instructions have been given to shift the six mosques of Dalmandi somewhere else, if this is not done then action will be taken.
He apprised that the notice has been given to the mosque committees. Executive Engineer Singh said that if the committees wish, the administration will provide them land and funds for construction at a new place.
He stated that the Langde Hafiz Mosque, the Marble Mosque, the Ali Raza Khan Mosque, the Nisaran Mosque, the Shah Mosque, and the Karimullah Beg Mosque have been identified for the Dal Mandi widening project. The Public Works Department can initiate demolition proceedings as per regulations. After this, the widening work will be completed. Once completed, it will take three months to construct new structures.
It has been reported that mosque committees have requested some time to relocate these mosques, while some are adamant that the mosques remain in place.
