Mumbai, July 10: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday raided hundreds of places in several districts across the state and questioned around 112 people in connection with terror activity. The ATS described this action as part of a coordinated operation to investigate their alleged links with Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti.
An ATS official said that on Friday morning, teams from all 14 ATS units of the state simultaneously launched searches at several places in the state, including Mumbai, Thane, Kurla, Bandra, Jogeshwari, Navi Mumbai, Mira Road, Bhayander, Sangli, Satara and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which is still ongoing. This action is being taken against people who were allegedly in contact with Bhatti through social media.
In this operation, 112 people from districts like Jalna, Beed, Ahilyanagar, Sambhajinagar, etc. are being questioned. Their mobile phones, laptops, etc. have been seized as digital evidence, and they are being questioned to determine the truth of their alleged links with Bhatti and to gather further evidence. It is suspected that Bhatti uses social media platforms to incite youth to engage in anti-national activities, and the young men involved were involved in this work.
