
Uttar Pradesh, Haryana witness heavy rain as Southern India braces for decline
New Delhi, July 10: Due to the formation of a low pressure area over northern parts of central Uttar Pradesh, very heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh over the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the ongoing heavy rainfall in some areas of central and southern peninsular India is expected to slow down.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is likely to experience light rain with strong winds on Saturday and Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures on these days are expected to be 35-37 degrees Celsius and 24-26 degrees Celsius, respectively, while Sunday’s maximum temperature will see a slight increase compared to Saturday.
According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall activity is likely to remain low over central and southern peninsular India over the next 6-7 days. Isolated to very heavy rainfall is expected across all states of Northeast India, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Western Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday and Sunday.
Furthermore, isolated areas of Northwest India, Central India, Eastern India, Northeast India, and Western India are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall over the next five to six days. Strong winds, potentially turning into gusty winds, are also expected in these areas. Scattered rain is expected in some areas of Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, North Interior Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Telangana, including other states, during July 11-16 in South Peninsular India.
The met officials had forecast light rain with strong winds in Delhi on Friday, but after three days of continuous rain, the weather cleared today, leaving people reeling under humid heat.
In the past 24 hours, very heavy rainfall (21 cm) was recorded in Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. Very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm) was recorded in eastern Madhya Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Haryana. Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) was recorded in Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi, eastern Rajasthan, western Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal. Gale winds with speeds of 60-80 kmph were recorded in eastern Madhya Pradesh, while wind speeds of 40-60 kmph were recorded in some places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, among other states. This affected the normal life of the people here.
