Joint operation exposes cyber fraud network in Uttar Pradesh capital
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Amit Kumar Anand informed in a press conference on Monday that in a joint operation between the team formed under the leadership of Additional Inspector of Sushant Golf City Police Station Vinod Kumar Pandey and the Cyber Cell, four notorious accused involved in an international corporate fraud racket who committed cyber fraud online by opening bank accounts were arrested.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police had received information that some suspicious people were operating a cyber fraud operation in a flat in a block of the Light House Housing Development Scheme. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and found four individuals transferring fraudulent funds from a flat using laptops and mobile phones. Upon detaining and questioning them, they discovered that these individuals were involved in cyber fraud, forming companies to transfer and withdraw funds. Among the arrested accused are Satyendra Savita, a resident of Unnao Kotwali, Nippu Kumar, Manish Kumar, and Sunny Kumar from Bihar.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they, at the behest of their associates, tricked people into opening current accounts in their names. They registered companies using fake offices. They then transferred the proceeds of cyber fraud into these accounts. The accused received commissions for operating this network. 718 complaints have been filed against these accused on the NCRP portal in various states, and information is being collected.
