Tragic crash on Agra–Lucknow expressway claims five lives

Unnao, July 01: At least, five people in a car died and 17 people in a bus were injured in a road accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Bangarmau police station area of ​​Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh early today. Upon receiving the information, District Magistrate Ghanshyam Meena, Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash Singh, and Bangarmau SDM Brijmohan Shukla reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

The District Magistrate said that around 4:30 am today, a bus was going from Faridabad to Bihar. Near Devkhari village on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, the bus driver fell asleep. Due to this, the bus broke the divider, went to the other side and fell into a ditch. At the same time, an Ertiga car going from Lucknow to Mathura collided with it. There were nine people in the car, five of whom died on the spot and four were referred to the district hospital where they are undergoing treatment. The District Magistrate stated that some people travelling in the bus were injured and have also been referred. Their condition is normal and they are being sent home. The damaged vehicle has been removed.

The deceased have been identified as Divya (6), Amrita (13), Anju (40), Dhunmun (60) and the car driver Vinod (45), all from Sant Kabir Nagar. They are all members of the same family. The police have informed the family about the incident and have initiated further action.
