PM Modi to participate in SCO summit during key diplomatic visit
New Delhi, August 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-nation visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan from Saturday. During this visit, he will participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Prime Minister will participate in the 26th SCO Summit to be held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) from August 31 to September 1. This summit will be held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, of which India has been a full member since 2017.
According to the Ministry, the Prime Minister will address the summit during this time. He will highlight India’s security, connectivity, and opportunity priorities on the platform. He will also hold bilateral meetings with SCO leaders at this summit. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, which celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Central Asia.
Prime Minister Modi will visit Uzbekistan ahead of the SCO Summit. He will pay a state visit to Tashkent on August 29-30. This will be his fourth visit to the country. During this visit, the Prime Minister will hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The two leaders will review cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people contacts and outline a future course of action. They will also discuss advancing the shared development goals of Developed India 2047 and Uzbekistan 2030. During this visit, he may also visit the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
