New Delhi, June 8: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will launch a two-day outreach event on Thursday as part of the Delhi BJP’s month-long drive to showcase the achievements of the Modi government over the previous nine years.
According to a statement issued by the Delhi BJP, Jaishankar will meet with Sikh refugees from Afghanistan on Thursday who fled the nation when it was taken over by the Taliban.
The union Minister, accompanied by West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma, will also see a family devastated by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots at Tilak Vihar on Thursday, according to the statement.
According to the announcement, Jaishankar would meet with students forced to quit their studies in Ukraine owing to Russia’s invasion of the nation in Basai Darapur. He will meet Afghan Sikh refugees at Guru Arjun Dev Gurudwara in Mahavir Nagar, West Delhi, at 3 p.m.
Jaishankar has been delegated by the BJP’s national leadership to manage a month-long campaign in seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi, with former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. On June 8-9, the foreign affairs minister will also meet with famous people and interact with groups of professionals and IITians in various regions of West Delhi and New Delhi parliamentary seats, according to a senior party official.
According to the statement, he will visit famed photographer and Padma Shri awardee Naresh Bedi at his house in Rajouri Garden, as well as Lt General S K Gulati (retd) during his outreach event on Thursday. Jaishankar would visit several engagements in the South and Northwest Delhi Lok Sabha seats on June 15 and 17, according to party insiders.
