Lucknow Tragedy: SDRF recovers bodies of three youths from Sai river
Lucknow, September 23: The bodies of three youths who drowned in the Sai River on Tuesday during ‘Ganapati Visarjan’ ceremony in the Mohanlalganj police station area of Lucknow, were recovered by the state disaster response force (SDRF) team on Wednesday. The police filled out a Panchnama and sent the bodies for post-mortem, police reported.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) South Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar said that on Tuesday evening, people of Sisendi village had gone to the Sai River in the Mohanlalganj police station area to immerse the Ganesh idol. Dheeraj of the village went into deep water and drowned in the river. Seeing him drowning, Hari Prasad and Pramod jumped into the river to save him. Due to the current and depth of the water, both of them drowned in the river.
On receiving information about the incident, senior officials reached the spot with police force. The drowned youths were searched with the help of divers till late night, but they were not found. On Wednesday morning, a total of five teams of local divers along with the SDRF team and water police again launched a joint operation and recovered the bodies of all the youths who drowned in the river.
The police identified the deceased, filled the Panchnama of the bodies in the presence of the family and sent them for post-mortem.
