BJP mocks Rahul Gandhi: “Zero understanding of politics”
New Delhi, Sept 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday hit back at Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, dismissing his remarks on electoral irregularities and anti‑incumbency as flawed and ill‑informed.
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said Gandhi’s grasp of Indian politics was “zero,” arguing that historical examples contradicted his claim that anti‑incumbency was a permanent feature of Indian democracy. Trivedi pointed out that Congress victories in Rae Bareli and Amethi over the past 25 years relied on Samajwadi Party support, while Gandhi’s win in Wayanad was aided by the Indian Union Muslim League.
At a press conference, Trivedi mocked Gandhi’s assertion of observing politics for nearly 50 years, sarcastically calling him a “political expert” and ridiculing his use of PowerPoint presentations. He also made a pointed remark about Gandhi’s age, saying only a “young man with a full‑grown beard” could claim to understand politics from the age of five or six.
Rejecting Gandhi’s allegations against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision process, Trivedi said raising questions based on newspaper reports lacked credibility. He maintained that the Commission’s procedures were backed by facts and official records, dismissing Gandhi’s charges as baseless.
