‘Sodium-potassium balance disturbed’: CM Adhikari’s sharp jibe at rival

Kolkata, October 30: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, without naming anyone, took a sharp political jibe at Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee during the ‘Janata Darbar’ programme held in Salt Lake on Friday.

Chief Minister quipped that it seems his ‘sodium-potassium’ has deteriorated. If he wants to go to New York for treatment, the state government will immediately issue him a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Pointing to cases of corruption and extortion, the Chief Minister Adhikari claimed that the person who used to make illegal recoveries for him has been detained by the Diamond Harbour police. According to the Chief Minister, the aide has spilled the beans to the police, and the revelation of this secret has upset his sodium-potassium balance. He also said that having been in power for 15 years, he may still have some people in the system who are providing him with inside information.

Significantly, the Chief Minister’s sarcastic remark comes just a day after MP Abhishek Banerjee sharply criticized the state government on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Banerjee criticized the government for withdrawing security for Birbhum MLA Kajal Sheikh and police raids on the premises of her close associates. He alleged that leaders who stand with Mamata Banerjee are being selectively targeted.

Expressing strong objection to the functioning of the state government and the Home Department, he questioned whether the West Bengal government and the Home Department are anyone’s ancestral property. In response to this sharp attack by Abhishek Banerjee, the Chief Minister retaliated on Friday.
