Major event announced on Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Diwas on December 6

Lucknow, November 5: Ahead of the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and former Chief Minister Mayawati has intensified efforts to activate the organization on the electoral front.

In a state-wide meeting held at the party’s state office in Lucknow on Thursday, she reviewed the organizational structure of all 75 districts and directed officials to strengthen preparations down to the booth level, increase voter activism, and connect people from all sections of society with the party.

The meeting focused on ground strategy for the upcoming assembly elections, selection of potential candidates, and expanding the party’s support base among weaker sections.

The meeting was attended by officials from the state unit to the divisional and district levels. Reviewing the election preparations, Mayawati stated that the strength of the organization will be ensured not only through meetings and announcements, but also through continuous work at the village, street, and booth levels.

She specifically reviewed efforts being made to maintain the unity of the votes of the poor, the marginalized, the Dalits, the backward classes, and other vulnerable sections. She also emphasized the need to identify and complete the process of selecting good candidates in a timely manner.

The BSP chief accepted the party’s request to attend as the chief guest at the massive tribute ceremony to be held in Lucknow on December 6th, the day of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas. This event will be held at the DrBhimrao Ambedkar Social Change Site, located on the banks of the Gomti River. The party has pledged to make extensive preparations for this occasion and make it a historic one.

Mayawati also questioned the country’s current electoral system. He alleged that the lack of a credible system necessary to ensure free and fair elections is hampering the democratic process. According to him, the misuse of government machinery in the electoral process and disputes related to voter lists have posed serious challenges to political parties. He also reiterated his objections to the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs), saying it is essential to maintain public confidence in free and fair elections.

Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other political parties, including the Congress, Mayawati said that problems like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, inflation, and social inequality remain major challenges in the country. She alleged that the real interests of the poor, farmers, laborers, women, youth, and small businesses are being overlooked in the pursuit of power. She said that these problems will not be solved by mere political claims, but rather by a system that ensures the rule of law and social justice.

Referring to the party’s political ideology, the BSP chief said that the ideas of Dr. Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, Narayan Guru, and Kanshi Ram are the ideological strength of the organization. She appealed to workers to spread the message of struggle and social change of these great men to the masses.

She said that the people of Uttar Pradesh expect a fear-free, corruption-free, and just governance. Under the BSP government, public welfare and development were prioritized along with the rule of law. The party is preparing to contest the upcoming assembly elections, claiming to re-establish this system of governance.

At the end of the meeting, Mayawati advised the officials to put aside their differences and work with organizational unity. She clarified that the party must exert all its strength now to present a strong political challenge in the 2027 assembly elections. The BSP has declared its goal to once again form a full-majority government in Uttar Pradesh.
