New Delhi, 15 August: Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ ceremony by hoisting the flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort for the 10th consecutive time on the country’s 77th Independence Day.
The Amrit Mahotsav of Independence was started by the Prime Minister on March 12, 2021, from the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In his address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister infused renewed vigour into realising the dream of making India a developed country by 2047.
Prime Minister Modi left his official residence this morning and went directly to Rajghat to pay floral tributes at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.
He then reached the Red Fort for the country’s main Independence Day celebrations, where he was received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane.
Defence Secretary Aramane introduced the Prime Minister to General Officer Commanding (GOC) Delhi Area, Lt Gen Dheeraj Seth. After this, the Prime Minister inspected the Guard of Honour. The command of the guard of honour was in the hands of Major Vikas Sangwan.
The Prime Minister’s Guard was commanded by Major Indrajit Sachin, while the Naval contingent was commanded by Lt. Cdr. MV Rahul Raman, and the Air Force contingent was commanded by Squadron Leader Akash Ganghas. The Delhi Police team was commanded by Additional DCP Sandhya Swamy.
After inspecting the Guard of Honour, the Prime Minister proceeded to the ramparts of the Red Fort, where he was received by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R.K. Hari Kumar, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chowdhary.
After this, GOC Seth took Prime Minister Modi to the saluting base built on the ramparts to hoist the flag. Major Nikita Nair and Major Jasmine Kaur assisted the Prime Minister in unfurling the National Flag. After the flag hoisting, the ‘National Salute’ was given to the tricolour.
The National Flag Guard consisted of five officers and 128 other personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police who presented the national salute when the flag was unfurled by the Prime Minister. Army Major Abhinav Detha commanded this Inter-Services Guard and Police Guard.
The Army contingent in the National Flag Guard was commanded by Major Mukesh Kumar Singh, the Naval contingent by Lieutenant Commander Harpreet Mann, and the Air Force contingent by Squadron Leader Shrey Chaudhary.
The team of Delhi Police was commanded by Additional DCP Shashank Jaiswal. The Army Band played the National Anthem during the flag hoisting and rendering of the ‘National Salute’. The band was conducted by Naib Subedar Jatinder Singh.
After this, indigenously made 105 mm For the first time with Indian field guns, the gunners of 8711 Field Battery (Ceremonial) fired the traditional 21-gun salute. Lieutenant Colonel Vikas Kumar commanded the ceremonial battery. Naib Subedar (AIG) Anoop Singh was the position officer during the gun salute.
During this, two advanced light helicopters, Mark-III Dhruv, of the Air Force showered flowers on the venue at the Red Fort, so the sky also looked happy on Indian Independence Day. The pilots of these helicopters were Captain Wing Commander Amber Agarwal and Squadron Leader Himanshu Sharma.
After showering flowers, Prime Minister Modi started addressing the nation. At the conclusion of the Prime Minister’s address, the National Anthem was sung by cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), who were seated on the Gyan Path in uniform. The G-20 logo decorated with flowers was another attraction for the people at the event at the Red Fort.
National War Memorial, India Gate, Vijay Chowk, New Delhi Railway Station, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat, Jama Masjid Metro Station, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, Delhi Gate Metro Station, and ITO Metro Gate to dedicate various schemes and initiatives of the government. Selfie points have been set up at 12 places, including Naubat Khana and Sheesh Ganj Gurudwara.
In his address to the nation at the 77th Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that to make the country developed by the year 2047, three big evils of corruption, familyism, and appeasement have to be tackled.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said from the ramparts of the Red Fort that by 2047, the country’s tricolour will represent a developed India. This requires probity, transparency, and fairness. We have to turn a blind eye to the evils with which the country has been battling for years. These evils are corruption, nepotism, and appeasement.
He said that action has been taken against 10 crore people in the campaign against corruption. These 100 million people were never born. They took advantage of various schemes. In the last few years, 20 times more seizures have been made under this action.
He said that there have been distortions in political parties under family rule. The dynastic parties are working only for themselves. This nepotism is the enemy of talent and negates merit. At the same time, social justice has been most affected by appeasement. This has affected the national character of the country.
