
PM Modi discusses global demand for Indian space tech with startup founders
New Delhi, August 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the CEOs and founders of 20 Indian space startups at ‘Seva Teerth’ on Friday. Discussions focused on the growing capabilities of Indian private companies in the space sector, the growing global demand for Indian space technologies, and future prospects for the space sector.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the meeting included heads of startups working on rocket development, reusable spacecraft and launch vehicles, satellites, space-related electronic systems, new technologies for rocket engines, space and defense information, space debris mitigation, and technologies for providing local weather and climate information using artificial intelligence.
The startup leaders praised the government’s decision to allow private companies to operate in the space sector. They stated that this decision has created many new opportunities for the industry. They stated that companies from many countries around the world are showing interest in adopting and utilizing technologies developed by Indian private space companies.
The Prime Minister urged space entrepreneurs to explore new uses for their technologies and focus on developing technologies that can make life easier for the common people.
Modi also emphasized the need for increased collaboration between the space industry and other sectors related to social development. He said that companies working on technologies to remove space debris can collaborate with environmental organizations. Similarly, companies developing space technology for agriculture can collaborate with agricultural universities and government departments to help farmers make better decisions and increase production.
The Prime Minister urged India to create an environment where the world considers the space sector. He said that the country’s space sector can become a hub for attracting talent, companies, and investment from around the world.
He suggested increasing collaboration between space companies and Atal Tinkering Labs. The Prime Minister said this would help instill curiosity and interest in space among children from a young age.
The dialogue was attended by the heads and founders of Skyroot Aerospace, Agnikul Cosmos, Pixel, Dhruv Space, GalaxyEye, Piercyte, Bellatrix Aerospace, Digantra, SatSure, Suhora Technologies, Manastu Space, Astrobase, Techme2Space, VyomIC, CosmoServe Space, OrbitAID Aerospace, SkyServe (Hyspace), Serendipity Space, Vaser Labs and MistEO.
