Yogi Adityanath leads grand ‘Vijayadashami’ procession in Gorakhpur
Gorakhpur, October 20: The grand Vijayadashami Shobha Yatra of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath brought alive the historic traditions of Gorakhpeeth on Tuesday evening. Riding a flower‑decorated chariot after worshipping Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, Yogi Adityanath led the procession amid chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” Vedic mantras, and the resonant sounds of Nagphani, trumpets, drums, and damru. Devotees lined both sides of the route, showering flowers and capturing glimpses of the CM Yogi.
The procession reflected social unity as members of the Muslim and weaver communities, including Chaudhary Kaifulwara and representatives of the Weavers Welfare Society, welcomed Yogi Adityanath with garlands and floral showers. Minority community members received prasad from the Navratri rituals, applying it to their foreheads in reverence. Sindhi community members near Shri Jhulelal Temple also extended a grand welcome.
Strict security arrangements accompanied the procession as it moved from Gorakhnath Temple to Mansarovar Temple, where Yogi Adityanath performed worship of Lord Shiva and other deities.
Later, at the Ramlila Maidan, he garlanded the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar and performed the coronation of Lord Shri Ram, worshipping Ram, Janaki, Laxman, and Hanuman with aarti. The evening’s celebrations, marked by devotion, inclusivity, and tradition, showcased Gorakhpeeth’s enduring legacy of faith and harmony.
