“Sleeping Pills, Vote-Theft University”, Akhilesh Yadav slams EC and BJP

Etawah, October 23: The Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, after casting his vote in Saifai on Friday, took a swipe at the Election Commission and the BJP, alleging that the poll body was inactive “after taking sleeping pills” and sarcastically remarking that the BJP should open a university for “vote theft.”

Speaking to reporters in Saifai, Akhilesh Yadav said that only when people vote will democracy be protected and the Constitution will be saved. This government and the Election Commission have been claiming fair elections, but today the BJP is disappointed. Reports are coming in from several districts, including Agra, Fatehpur, and Gorakhpur, that BJP members or corrupt officials were sent forward to stop SP members from voting. This is an MLC election. They could do the same in the assembly elections. I hope the Election Commission will conduct fair elections. He must not be sleeping on sleeping pills.

Yadav stated that the Samajwadi Party and its workers will work towards strengthening democracy. Information was received from Erwa Katra in Auraiya that BJP members were engaging in hooliganism. They have been in power for so many years, why was this hooliganism necessary? The BJP is tampering with the voter list.

When asked how many seats he would give to the Congress, Akhilesh said that he and Congress would sit together and decide. The BJP has to be defeated. We have to find a way out. Responding to a poster put up in Lucknow, he asked, “Who is Ravana? We have all read and seen the Ramayana.”
