
Group of devotees embark on journey to Pakistan for Maharaja’s remembrance
Amritsar, June 21: On the death anniversary of the Lion of Punjab, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, a group of devotees departed from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) office on Sunday morning to visit historic Sikh Gurdwaras in Pakistan.
Prior to the group’s departure, prayers were offered as per religious rituals and the devotees were bid farewell with best wishes.
During this time, special enthusiasm was observed among the devotees and their families.
According to the SGPC, this year, passports of 302 pilgrims were sent for visas, of which 290 received visas for Pakistan. All the pilgrims who received visas departed for Pakistan today with the group. The group will visit various Gurdwaras of historical and religious significance in Pakistan and will return to India on June 30.
During the pilgrimage, devotees will pay obeisance at sacred sites associated with Sikh history and the Guru Sahiban . Before departing, devotees expressed their joy, saying that they had the opportunity to visit sacred sites associated with their religion and heritage, which was a very special moment for them. One devotee remarked that every Sikh desires to pay obeisance at Gurdwaras that commemorate the memory of Sikh Gurus and great figures .
The devotees expressed their joy by expressing their gratitude to the SGPC and the relevant administration, stating that the arrangements made for the pilgrimage were commendable. Spiritual fervor and devotion were clearly visible on the devotees’ faces as they departed . The Sangat bid the pilgrims farewell with best wishes and prayed for a happy, successful, and prosperous journey .
