
Yoga as shield against sickness and senescence, says Yogi Adityanath on IYD-2026
Jhansi, June 21: On the second day of his visit to Jhansi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day ( June 21), practiced yoga with thousands of people at a grand event organized at the foothills of the historic Jhansi Fort under the joint aegis of the district administration and the AYUSH department. Describing yoga as the foundation of a healthy and balanced life, he urged everyone to make it a part of their daily routine.
Yogi said that yoga is not just exercise, but an Indian tradition of maintaining balance between body, mind, and spirit. He said, “We must make regular yoga a part of our lives. Those who have a body tempered with yoga are free from disease and old age. To avoid these problems, it is essential to include yoga in our daily routine.”
In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the Sun, stating that it is the primary source of vitality and energy for all of us. The Durga Puja rituals, held twice a year, are also important times for energy practice. He stated that the purpose of Yoga Day is to assimilate the Sun’s energy and give life a new direction. The tradition of yoga dates back to the time of the Adi Yogi, Lord Shiva, and is an important part of India’s ancient cultural heritage.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts, saying that under his leadership, yoga has gained global recognition. Today, the entire world is adopting yoga and moving towards a healthy life. This has brought respect to India’s culture, tradition, and heritage on the world stage and enhanced the pride of 1.4 billion Indians. He stated that this has proven to be an important initiative towards realizing the resolve for a developed India.

Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman Manvendra Singh, Ayush Minister Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’, MP Anurag Sharma, MLA Ravi Sharma, MLC Rama Niranjan, Ramtirth Singhal, MLA Rajiv Singh ‘Parichha’, both district presidents of the BJP, along with many public representatives, office bearers and workers were present at the program. Although the Chief Minister mentioned the names of most of the public representatives in his address, the absence of the name of one MLC continued to be discussed in political circles after the program.
A large number of citizens, youth and women also participated in this yoga program organized at Jhansi Fort and took a pledge for a healthy life through yoga.
