Akshay Kumar’s ₹ 250 cr comedy safari scores average on day 1
Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited comedy film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ has made a slow start at the box office.
The film grossed ₹ 15 crore in India on its first day of release. Adding ₹ 3.75 crore earned from paid previews, its total opening collection has reached Rs 18.75 crore. With this impressive opening, the film surpassed the first day collections of Akshay Kumar’s previous releases ‘Bhoot Bangla’ and the two previous films in the ‘Welcome’ franchise. However, it could not break the record of Rs 24 crore opening of ‘Housefull 5’.
Akshay Kumar is seen in a double role in this multi-starrer film directed by Ahmed Khan. He stars Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Arshad Warsi, and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles.
The film has received mixed reviews from audiences and critics, but its entertainment value and comedy are showing positive response in the early days.
The film’s biggest strength is the popular trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Sunil Shetty, who reminded audiences of “Hera Pheri.” The actors’ excellent comic timing and chemistry make the film entertaining. All eyes are now on the weekend collections, which will determine the film’s long run at the box office.
