Actor Satendra Soni, known for his role as Chhotu in Laapataa Ladies, shared a viral Instagram video alleging that filmmaker Pushpendra Singh and his wife Pragati Chauhan assaulted him, withheld payment, and threatened him after an eight‑day shoot in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, prompting police intervention and widespread outrage across social media.

The acot further alleged that producer couple threatened to kill him during the shoot of Pedh Palkhi in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh. The video sparked outrage, police intervention, and widespread support from fans and fellow artistes.

Satendra Soni, who received a ₹50,000 signing amount but was promised full payment after the shoot, alleged in a viral Instagram video that after eight days of filming he was removed from the set when he asked for his dues, threatened with death by director Pushpendra Singh, chased and beaten on the road along with his wife Pragati Chauhan, while fellow artistes Shridhar Dubey and Pankaj Sharma who tried to intervene were also attacked.

Satendra Soni later posted another video from a Mumbai railway station confirming he was safe and thanking the Maihar Police for their assistance, while the incident sparked industry-wide debates on the exploitation of junior artists and the need for transparent contracts, and director Pushpendra Singh has so far not issued any public statement.
