Yamuna Expressway mishap leaves four dead, 20 hurt

Mathura, June 30: A speeding Volvo bus traveling from Lucknow to Delhi rammed into a gravel-laden trailer ahead of it on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, at around 3:30 a.m. today. Four passengers died on the spot, while around 20 were injured.

The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely crushed by the trailer.

The accident occurred about two kilometers before the Raya cut, between milestones 112 and 113 of the expressway. The accident caused chaos. Police, fire service, SDRF, and administration teams arrived at the scene upon receiving information. With the help of local residents, the trapped passengers were rescued and the injured were taken to the hospital.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Suresh Chandra Rawat said that the trailer loaded with gravel was moving in its lane when a Volvo bus belonging to Gola Bus Service coming from behind lost control and slammed into the trailer. The control room received information about the accident at 3:35 am, after which 8 PRBs and 12 ambulances were sent to the scene. A green corridor was also created to quickly transport the injured to the hospital.
