
Speeding container rams roadways bus in Etah, five killed
Etah, July 3: At least five people were killed and 11 injured early Friday morning near Kilarmau village in the Baghwala police station area of Etah district, Uttar Pradesh, when a speeding container rammed into a broken-down roadways bus parked on the roadside, hitting passengers standing outside; locals immediately began rescue operations, police reached the spot, and the injured were rushed to Veerangana Avanti Bai Medical College where doctors declared several dead.
Satendra (38), a resident of Bulandshahr, Rajesh (34), Sukhram (30), Shailesh (29), and another unidentified person dead.
Meanwhile, 11 people were injured, including Anand (52), a resident of Sector 34, Noida; Vivek (30), Poonam (32), Vikrant (23), and Sumit, residents of Nawabganj, Farrukhabad; Nitish (30), a resident of Awas Vikas Colony, Etah; Vishal (15), Ravi (17), Yatendra (27), Daksh (10), residents of Meerut; Rishu (21), a resident of Khalwara, Farrukhabad; and Brajesh (24), a resident of Bachmai, Amanpur, Kasganj. Treatment for the injured is ongoing.
Upon receiving information about the accident, District Magistrate Arvind Singh and SSP Dr. Elamaran, along with several police officers, arrived at the scene. They inspected the scene and directed proper treatment for the injured. Police removed the damaged container and the roadways bus and restored traffic. The accident is under investigation.
Pawan Kumar, brother of the deceased, Rajesh, stated that the bus was parked on the side of the road due to a breakdown when a speeding container hit it from behind. His brother died in the accident. His younger brother, Awadhesh, and two girls were traveling to Delhi.
The District Magistrate stated that the bus had broken down and was parked on the side of the road, but part of it was still on the road. Meanwhile, a container coming from behind struck the bus, hitting passengers standing outside. He stated that the injured are receiving appropriate treatment and the entire incident is being investigated.
