Goldsmith robbery cracked: Two notorious robbers held in Lucknow
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South Amit Kumar Anand told in a press conference on Monday that Sachin Kumar Verma, resident of Pachvan Tola Bangla Ward Amethi, filed a case on June 23 and told that he has a jeweler’s shop on Munshiganj Ram Bagh Road. As usual, he was returning home from his shop on his scooter, carrying gold and silver jewelry from his shop and his brother Manish Soni’s shop in a bag, when at 8:30 pm, three unidentified men stopped his scooter near the Bangla Bhawani Temple and attempted to steal his scooter and bag. When the plaintiff raised an alarm, the accused shot him in the leg, stole the scooter and the jewelry from the bag and fled.
He stated that a case was registered in this incident and four police teams were deployed. The team reviewed footage from approximately 600 CCTV cameras, and the surveillance cell collected electronic evidence. Following this, police took action early Monday morning and arrested two notorious criminals from the Daheramou endpass in Gosaiganj police station. The stolen goods were also recovered from them.
The DCP stated that among the arrested accused, Shivam Yadav alias Kundan and Ankul Yadav alias Gole of Jaunpur district have been booked and are being sent to jail in judicial custody. Another accused Sonu Yadav will be arrested soon.
During interrogation, the arrested accused confessed to conducting recces of jewellers’ shops and using stolen motorcycles to execute robberies, admitting to shooting and injuring victims when resisted; they were involved in the June 23 goldsmith robbery in Gosainganj, as well as bike theft in Hazratganj and armed robberies targeting goldsmiths in Raebareli and Chandauli districts.
