Pradhan’s resignation accepted; Five‑term Karnataka MP Pralhad Joshi gets Education charge
New Delhi, July 25: Following the agitation by the Cockroach Janata Party, the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been officially accepted. According to a communique issued by the President’s Secretariat on Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu has accepted Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation on the advice of the Prime Minister. With this, the additional charge of the Education Ministry has now been handed over to Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Pralhad Joshi.
Pralhad Joshi was sworn in as a Union Cabinet Minister for the first time on May 30, 2019. At that time, he was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines. He held the charge of these ministries until June 2024. After the 2024 general elections, he was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy. Pralhad Joshi has been elected to the Lok Sabha from the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka for five consecutive terms. However, after winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he stated that he was not completely satisfied with the narrow margin of victory.
