UP govt deploys extra buses, 24×7 control room for ‘Kanwar Yatra’

Lucknow, July 26: The Uttar Pradesh government has begun preparations to ensure a smooth and safe Kanwar Yatra during the month of Shravan, which begins on July 30. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will operate additional buses for Kanwar pilgrims. A 24-hour control room will also be set up for monitoring during this period.

Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh has issued necessary instructions to officials regarding the safe operation of the corporation’s buses and passenger amenities. Transport Corporation Managing Director Prabhu Narayan Singh said on Sunday that a 24-hour control room will be established at each regional headquarters. This control room will operate continuously from the beginning of the Kanwar Yatra until its conclusion, and all activities will be recorded.

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh stated that in view of the increasing number of pilgrims traveling to Haridwar during the Kanwar Yatra, additional buses will be arranged. Additionally, additional buses will be operated as needed on major routes like Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Prayagraj.

Instructions have been given to ensure that bus stations along the Kanwar route, including drinking water, clean toilets, seating arrangements, cleanliness, enquiry rooms, sound broadcasting systems, and food stalls, operate smoothly to ensure no inconvenience to passengers.

Special emphasis will be placed on road safety

Bus speeds will be maintained within the prescribed limits during the Kanwar Yatra. All drivers will undergo mandatory breathalyzer tests, and strict adherence to road safety rules will be ensured.

Regional managers have been instructed to participate in meetings with the Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrate. Route diversions and other arrangements will be implemented in coordination with the district administration and police administration.

Information regarding the route diversion plan issued by the district administration will be promptly disseminated to all concerned areas. For this, WhatsApp groups, telephone and other communication mediums will be used so that bus operations are not affected.

The focus will be on the cooperation of devotees and smooth operations

The Transport Minister has directed the officers and employees to behave cordially with the devotees during the Kanwar Yatra and provide all possible assistance. Along with this, instructions have been given to ensure that the Kanwar Yatra is not disrupted under any circumstances due to the corporation’s buses. Also, buses will be operated only on the alternative routes decided by the district administration.
