Lucknow: Denied marriage, couple chooses death over separation
The Gosaiganj Assistant Commissioner Police ( ACP) Rishabh Yadav said on Sunday that the PGI police station received information that a young man and woman living in a rented room in Telibagh had committed suicide by hanging themselves. Police and a forensic team arrived at the scene after receiving information. Police have taken the bodies into custody and have begun investigating the case.
The deceased man has been identified as Aniket alias Ranu, a resident of Shahjahanpur, and the woman is a resident of Noida. The two were relatives and had been in love for several years. They wanted to get married, but their families were very upset with the relationship and were not willing to allow it. For this reason, the lovers fled their homes and came to Lucknow, renting a room. Aniket was earning a living for himself and his girlfriend by working as a laborer. Today, for some reason, both of them hanged themselves to death.
ACP Gosaiganj stated that the police and forensic team collected evidence from the scene. After filling out a panchnama and sending the bodies for post-mortem, the families were informed of the incident.
