Mumbai, July 28: Actor-director Suneil Anand, son of Hindi cinema’s legendary actor Dev Anand, has passed away at the age of 70. According to reports, he suffered a heart attack and breathed his last in a London hospital.
It is reported that this is the same hospital where his father, Dev Anand, also died. The family has confirmed his death in an official statement. The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the film industry and fans, with heartfelt tributes pouring in on social media.
Sunil Anand’s niece, Zeena Narang, said in a statement on behalf of the family that the family is grateful for the outpouring of love, condolences, and prayers during this difficult time. She appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy so they can navigate this difficult time together. The family also expressed gratitude for the support of all well-wishers.
Suneil Anand was the only son of Dev Anand and Kalpana Kartik. He made his Bollywood debut in 1984 with his father’s directorial debut, “Anand Aur Anand.” He subsequently appeared in films like “Main Tere Liye” and “Car Thief.” However, he didn’t achieve the same success as his father. Later, he stepped away from acting and took charge of the family banner, Navketan Films, attempting to carry forward his father’s cinematic legacy.
