BJP blasts Gandhi for spreading confusion, demands accountability
New Delhi, July 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, of trying to spoil the atmosphere by telling lies and spreading confusion inside and outside the Parliament. The BJP said that Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of firing on students during the Cockroach Janata Party’s protest are baseless.
BJP’s national spokesperson and Lok Sabha member Dr. Sambit Patra, in a press conference at the party headquarters on Wednesday, rejected Rahul Gandhi’s statement in which he had mentioned firing on students and the order of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Patra said that no bullets were fired on the students and Rahul Gandhi made this allegation without any facts.
MP Patra said, “If an allegation is made in the House, facts must be supported. Rahul Gandhi’s claim that students were shot and that Home Minister Amit Shah gave the order is completely false. In such circumstances, the relevant magistrate, not the Home Minister, makes the decision as per the law. Rahul Gandhi should be aware of this.”
BJP spokesperson Dr. Patra said that Rahul Gandhi is attempting to mislead the country. He sarcastically said that the activities of the Home Minister of the country are public; he does not travel abroad secretly.
Dr Patra also referred to the discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill. He said that Union Minister Jitendra Singh, representing the government, was preparing to answer Rahul Gandhi’s questions, but the opposition tried to create a different atmosphere in the House.
Patra also objected to Rahul Gandhi’s statement regarding students. He said that Rahul Gandhi tried to divide students into different categories, whereas the BJP believes that every student in the country is equal. Patra said, “No student in this country is a blind devotee or an idiot. The kind of language Rahul used is an insult to the students. Were the students protesting at Jantar Mantar blind devotees? Were the other people who reached there blind devotees? All this shows that Rahul is not concerned about Gen-G. He is concerned about Generation Gandhi.”
BJP spokesperson Patra said that Rahul should answer for his statements and present his views on the basis of facts before the Parliament as well as the country.
