Self‑inflicted wound: Rijiju says Rahul Gandhi put himself in jeopardy
New Delhi, July 29: The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has strongly reacted to Rahul Gandhi’s statement in Parliament regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that he is extremely displeased with Rahul Gandhi’s attitude for two reasons.
Rijiju said that as Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi could not make a single concrete point on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill.
Speaking to the media at Makar Dwar, he alleged that instead, Rahul Gandhi used unparliamentary language and made false allegations against the Home Minister.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister stated that the Home Minister or any other minister does not give orders to open fire on anyone. He added that such orders fall under the jurisdiction of the magistrate or SDM present at the location.
Rijiju said that Rahul Gandhi should have been aware of this basic procedure. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi has put himself in a difficult situation with his own statement.
He said, “As Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, I always want the Leader of the Opposition to make meaningful interventions in the House, but Rahul Gandhi failed to do so. Therefore, I am disappointed.”
He also said that debates in Parliament should be based on facts and issues, and that greater responsibility is expected from leaders holding responsible positions.
