After Amritpal, Gurpreet Singh of Punjab named in FBI’s wanted list

Chandigarh, July 31: After declaring Amritpal Singh of Punjab, who died in a road accident in February 2025, wanted and releasing his photograph, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has now declared another youth from Punjab, Gurpreet Singh, wanted in an alleged international organized crime case.

According to the FBI, Gurpreet Singh is accused of dealing in unlicensed weapons, conspiring to smuggle drugs, and being involved in the distribution of narcotics. The agency claims that he was linked to an international criminal organization. The FBI alleges that the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria organized crime gang, which originated in Punjab, was active in several other locations, including the Central District of California, USA.

On June 25, the Los Angeles District Court for the Central District of California issued a federal arrest warrant against Gurpreet Singh. He has been charged with drug possession, conspiracy to distribute, and supplying narcotics. Two days earlier, the FBI had also released Amritpal Singh’s photo as a wanted individual. However, Amritpal’s family stated that he had returned from Canada and was living in Mowai village in Jalandhar district and died in a road accident while returning from his farm on February 19, 2025.

In June, a major US operation against international organized crime networks led to the arrest of 37 accused, including jailed Punjab gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. This operation was named ‘Operation Hardball’.
