Lucknow, 26 April: Criticising past governments for allegedly disregarding Mathura’s development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Thursday that his government has initiated projects worth ?32,000 crore that, when completed, will restore Mathura’s grandeur and holiness during the “Dwapar era.”
Adityanath, speaking at a rally for the impending municipal elections in Mathura, criticised the “corrupt and impoverished system” that has stalled Mathura’s growth under several governments since Independence. He stated that the foundation of the Mathura Vrindavan Municipal Corporation in 2017 and later the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad had moved the entire development action plan in Mathura forward.
“It is my fortune that our government established the Mathura Vrindavan Municipal Corporation in 2017. Work has been done to take forward an action plan for the overall development of this place by forming Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad,” the chief minister said in a statement issued here. He asked voters to support the BJP candidate and build a “triple-engine” government.
He stated that UP got investment bids worth ?35 lakh crore during the Global Investors Summit 2023, and that this investment will result in the employment of 50,000 youngsters in the Braj area.
“Today, India has changed, and we must join this process of change. Major infrastructure and building projects including as airports, IITs, and AIIMS are being finished on time. Respect for legacy has revitalised places like Kashi, Ayodhya, Kedarnath, and Mahakal.
“This is a new India,” declared Adityanath. “India has been self-sufficient since 2014. The potential of Uttar Pradesh and the potential of this New India must be combined,” he remarked, adding that the country’s economy is now robust. The chief minister described Jawahar Bagh in Mathura as a “hub of hooliganism” in the past. Riots used to erupt in Kosi Kalan, but PepsiCo India has established one of the world’s largest production factories there, according to him.
“In Mathura and Vrindavan, our government has completely prohibited the sale of meat and liquor. No one is allowed to tamper with the sacredness of this place,” he stated.
“It is our responsibility to restore the splendour of Barsana, Gokul, and Govardhan,” he stated, stating that the development of Banke Bihari’s Dham will be done along the lines of Kashi (Varanasi).
This municipal election is critical in this regard, he noted. “Before 2017, people belonging to a particular party used to roam around with ‘tamanchas’ in their hands,” the chief minister stated, criticising the previous government. The young of today hold tablets in their hands. Previously, there was fear of miscreants; now, the city is safe. Previously, there were mountains of waste; today, it is a smart city.”
