
Yogi Adityanath’s welfare push: Mid-Day meal cooks get enhanced pay & health cover
Lucknow, August 23: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a program at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on Sunday, announced a hike in the honorarium of mid-day meal cooks from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000 per month, doubled their uniform allowance, and distributed cashless medical cards to them.
The Chief Minister informed that now, instead of Rs. 500, cooks will receive an allowance of Rs. 1,000 for uniforms. In addition, cashless health cards will be provided to mid-day meal cooks. They will also receive insurance coverage from the government. Accident insurance up to ₹2 lakh will be provided in the event of an accident.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the government is continuously working for the welfare of every section of the state. Along with improving the education system, the facilities for school staff and cooks are also being taken care of.
During the program, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also targeted Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. He said that the previous government lacked time for the state’s development and public welfare. He sarcastically remarked, “Earlier, Babua used to wake up at 12 o’clock, get ready at 2 o’clock, go to the gym at 5 o’clock, and have a party at 7 o’clock. Where did he have time for the state? Today, the government has ample time for the state.”
The Chief Minister stated that law and order has strengthened under the current government. No one can compromise the safety of daughters in the state. Strict action will be taken against those who harass them. He said that under the previous government, school conditions were poor and cheating was rampant in examinations, but now the education system has improved. He claimed that the public will give a befitting reply to the Samajwadi Party in the upcoming elections and advance the politics of development in the state.
Eleven cooks received cashless medical cards and cheques for increased honorarium from the Chief Minister
An MoU was signed under the Cooks Social Security Scheme at a program held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on Sunday in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Additional Chief Secretary (Basic/Secondary Education) of the Basic Education Department, Parthasarathi Sen Sharma, and SBI Chief General Manager, Deepesh Raj, exchanged contracts for an insurance cover of ₹2 lakh (200,000 rupees) for cooks and their families. A short film highlighting the achievements of the PM Poshan (Midday Meal) Scheme was also screened at the event. The Chief Minister honored 11 cooks with cashless medical cards, clothing kits, and cheques for increased honorarium.
Chief Minister also visited various stalls during the program. He inquired about the progress of schemes. The children also told him about the Nipun weighing scale. He also gave them chocolates. During this, at the Meena Manch stall, girls requested a selfie with the Chief Minister, which prompted the Chief Minister to smile, and the girls also took selfies with him. After this, Chief Minister Yogi personally fed ‘kheer’ ( Indian traditional sweet dish) to six-month-olds Anita and Mohammad Ali, performed their first Annaprashan (first feeding ceremony), and gave them toys.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh, MLA Dr. Neeraj Singh, MLC Mukesh Sharma, MLC Ramchandra Pradhan, and MLC Avnish Patel were prominently present at the program.
