Tragic crash in Haryana claims six UP pilgrims, CM Yogi offers condolences
Mainpuri, September 1: A Max pickup truck carrying devotees from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, traveling to Khatu Shyam and Vrindavan, met with an accident in Palwal, Haryana. Six devotees died on the spot, while 14 were injured, police reported.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident and spoke to the Haryana government to ensure proper treatment for the injured. He also directed officials to deliver the bodies of the deceased to their families.
The group of devotees from Kishani, Mainpuri, had set out on a pilgrimage in a Max pickup truck. On Monday evening, after visiting the Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji temples in Rajasthan, they left for Vrindavan. Meanwhile, their vehicle collided with a truck parked on the roadside on the KMP Expressway in Palwal on Tuesday morning. Vijay Singh, Rajkumar, Reshma Devi, Kamla Devi, Sudha and Mahesh of Mainpuri, who were travelling in the pickup, died in the accident.
Meanwhile, 14 people including Sunil, Shweta Yadav, Biresh, Umed, Vinod Kumar, Sarla, Ruby, Ramsevak, Ravi, Vani, Veenu, Tannu, Rekha and Gora Devi were injured.
According to the police, the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Palwal. The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary of the district hospital and an investigation into the matter has been started.
