From honoring teachers to expanding literacy, Yogi Adityanath charts path of nation-building
Lucknow, September 7 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written a letter to the people of the state on the occasion of Teachers’ Day and the upcoming International Literacy Day. In it, Chief Minister Yogi said that on Teachers’ Day on September 5th, he had the privilege of honoring 81 teachers who laid the foundation for nation-building. Teachers are the lamps who spread the light of knowledge and pave the way for future generations. International Literacy Day will be celebrated on September 8 to expand this knowledge and empower every individual.
Chief Minister Yogi said that the purpose of children going to school is not just to learn to read and write, but to provide them with knowledge, values, discipline, self-confidence, and understanding that guides their lives. In the ancient Indian knowledge tradition, Gurukuls were centers of holistic education, where knowledge was imparted along with life values and a sense of responsibility. This same spirit should also underpin today’s education system. Knowledge is meaningful only when it simplifies life and proves useful to society.
Chief Minister said that today, technology is rapidly transforming our lives. Therefore, AI literacy, along with digital literacy, is also the need of the hour. AI, deep-tech, and emerging technologies are opening up new opportunities in education, health, agriculture, industry, and employment. Our government is integrating traditional knowledge with modern science, technology, innovation, and skills. The AI City in Lucknow and the developing ecosystem of drone and UAV technology in Kanpur are becoming the foundation for new possibilities for Uttar Pradesh’s technological future.
Yogi said that the state government has paid special attention to quality of education, school facilities, competitive exam preparation, and youth skill development through Operation Kayakalp, Mission Prerna, the Chief Minister’s Abhyudaya Yojana, and skill development programs. As a result of these efforts, significant success has been achieved in minimizing the dropout rate in the state’s schools and more and more children are joining the mainstream of education.
He said that teachers are the most important link in this entire journey. They inculcate values, curiosity, discipline, self-confidence and a sense of responsibility in students and connect our glorious knowledge tradition with modern knowledge and innovation.
CM Yogi said that the commitment to literacy cannot be fulfilled without the cooperation of society. If someone around you is deprived of literacy, it is our duty to make them literate. A small effort to teach someone how to read and write can open new doors of knowledge, confidence, and opportunities in their lives.
Chief Minister called on the people of the state to pledge on International Literacy Day that every child should attend school, every student should receive a quality education, every youth should engage in skills and innovation, and every citizen should become literate and aware of digital knowledge and AI.
