Iranian Prez Pezeshkian arrives in Delhi to attend BRICS Summit
New Delhi, September 11: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. This is his first visit to India since assuming office. Pezeshkian will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening, during which discussions are expected to focus on increasing trade between the two countries and further strengthening bilateral relations.
The Iranian President was welcomed at the New Delhi airport by Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur. Welcoming Pezeshkian on the social media platform X, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India and Iran share civilizational ties, underpinned by vibrant cultural and people-to-people ties.
Jaiswal said that as BRICS partners, India and Iran are working together to contribute to shared progress and prosperity. He welcomed Pezeshkian’s arrival in New Delhi to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit.
