Uttarakhand: Spiritual footfall rises as ‘Chardham’ draws millions
Dehradun, September 13: The number of pilgrims continues to rise this year during the ‘Chardham Yatra’ in Uttarakhand. As of September 12, 50 lakh 28 thousand 497 pilgrims have visited the Chardham in 147 days. Last year, during the same period, 45 lakh 09 thousand 324 pilgrims had arrived. This year, this number is 5 lakh 19 thousand 173 more.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the first phase of the Chardham Yatra was successful and a large number of pilgrims are expected to arrive in the second phase as well. Necessary arrangements are being ensured for the safe, smooth and organized journey of the pilgrims.
For the first time this year, the number of pilgrims has reached 7 lakh 84 thousand 321 at Gangotri Dham. Previously, 781,961 pilgrims had visited the shrine in 2022, 758,249 in 2025, and 712,749 in 2023. So far this year, 700,03,302 pilgrims have visited the Yamunotri shrine. In 2025, the highest number of pilgrims reached the shrine was 644,637.
The pilgrimage to Badrinath is also progressing at an increase compared to last year. Since the pilgrimage began on April 23, 1728,578 pilgrims have visited Lord Badrivishal in the 143 days until September 12. This number is 345,733 more than the 1382,845 pilgrims during the same period last year.
Shri Hemkunt Sahib has also received 319,135 pilgrims so far this year
According to the government, under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, continuous monitoring is being done to ensure the Chardham Yatra remains safe and organized. Disaster management systems have been put on alert in the districts associated with the Yatra, including Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Uttarkashi.
