
Lucknow man killed by bullet, police explore accident and suicide theories
Lucknow, September 16: A young man died after being shot late Tuesday night in the Sushant Golf City police station area of Lucknow. The Lucknow police are probing the incident from both accident and suicide angles.
The station house officer (SHO) Rajiv Ranjan Upadhyay said on Wednesday that Sharan Yadav (29), a resident of Mahipal Kheda, arrived home drunk on Tuesday night. Family members said he had obtained an illegal pistol and was showing it to his wife when the magazine fell out. A bullet remained lodged in the pistol, which he held to his temple, saying, “The magazine is out, nothing will happen,” and pulled the trigger, striking his temple. His family immediately rushed him to the Civil Hospital, where he died during treatment.
Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and, along with the forensic team and field unit, investigated the scene. An illegal pistol and an empty cartridge were seized from the scene.
The SHO stated that the body has been sent for post-mortem. The family’s statement was recorded and other necessary legal proceedings are being carried out.
