
Relief operations intensify in flood‑hit Lucknow under Yogi’s supervision

Lucknow, October 4: Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s instructions, the district administration in Lucknow has intensified relief and rescue operations amid the rising water levels of the Gomti River.
The district magistrate (DM) Vishak G. and Joint Police Commissioner Bablu Kumar on Sunday inspected the affected areas, including Baravan Kala, Saita, Jehta, Mall Road, and Faizullaganj, both on land and by boat. Officials directed that relief and rescue operations be conducted on a war footing, giving top priority to the safety of affected citizens.
During the inspection in Saetha village, the dm directed the city magistrate to ensure that pregnant women, children, and the elderly are immediately evacuated to safer locations on a priority basis. He also directed the immediate arrangement of 10 boats to transport affected people to safer locations. He also inquired about health services in relief camps, and directed that adequate medicines be made available to those in need.
District Magistrate Vishak G. Iyer stated that teams of officers and employees have been active in the affected areas since morning. Relief kits are being delivered to every home via boats. In addition to providing food and essential relief materials to affected families, instructions have been given to ensure adequate straw and fodder for animals. The Health Department has been instructed to prepare adequate kits of essential medicines and deliver them to the affected areas.
In Faizullaganj, District Magistrate and Joint Police Commissioner Bablu Kumar inspected the affected settlements by boat and interacted with the local people and inquired about the relief arrangements. To strengthen the security system, instructions were given to increase night police patrolling in the affected areas. An additional control room has been asked to be set up in Dawood Nagar so that immediate action can be taken on the complaints and needs of the citizens. The officials have been instructed to keep a constant watch on the water level of Gomti and sensitive areas and to be present on the spot to monitor the relief and rescue operations.
