
Three notorious thieves held for stealing goods worth lakhs from vacant house in Lucknow
Lucknow, May 03: The Lucknow police on Sunday solved the case of a burglary that occurred in a house in the Kaiserbagh police station area after a thorough investigation of nearly 100 CCTV cameras, the police arrested three notorious thieves and recovered a large quantity of jewellery from them.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Dhananjay Singh Kushwaha, speaking to the media in his office in Kaiserbagh, said that Nirupama Srivastava, a resident of Sarojini Devi Lane, Maqbool Ganj, filed a complaint on April 28. The victim stated that she had gone to Gomti Nagar on April 25. The house was completely empty, but that night a burglary occurred. On April 28, she received information about the theft from her neighbours. Upon learning of the incident, when the woman returned home and checked the cupboard, her jewellery was missing. Based on the woman’s complaint, the police registered a theft case and began an investigation.
The police arrested the accused, Karan Verma, Sushil Soni, and Mohammad Azam alias Ranu, near Rozgar Bhavan. They recovered gold and silver jewelry worth lakhs of rupees, cash, and the motorcycle used in the crime. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they roamed the city, scouting for closed houses. They would identify abandoned and closed houses and commit thefts. Accused Mohammad Azam alias Ranu had scouted the closed house in Maqboolganj and informed his accomplices. Among the arrested accused, Sushil Soni and Mohammad Azam alias Ranu already have several cases of theft and burglary registered against them in various police stations in Lucknow district. Further action is underway after the case has been registered against them.
