Allahabad HC issues bailable warrant against DM Gautam Buddha Nagar
Prayagraj, July 01: The Allahabad High Court has reprimanded the Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate Medha Roopam for disobeying court orders, directing her to appear in person and ordering the issuance of a bailable warrant against him
In the Mahindra Dutt Sharma case, the court of Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery found that the Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate had not yet filed her response to two clear court orders, one dated December 8, 2025, and the other dated January 5, 2026.
During the hearing of the case on July 1, 2026, the court took this negligence seriously and ordered the District Magistrate to appear in person on July 2, 2026, at 10 am, to explain why he should not be punished for contempt of court. A bailable warrant has been ordered to be issued against the District Magistrate through the concerned Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The Registrar (Compliance) has been directed to take necessary steps to comply with this order.
