Ayodhya police files chargesheet against 8 in Ram Mandir offering theft
Ayodhya, September 23: Following the completion of the investigation into the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the police on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against eight accused in the Special Anti-Corruption Court.
According to preliminary information, the police submitted a chargesheet of approximately 74,000 pages on Wednesday. The police arrived at the court with the chargesheet packed in four boxes and a cardboard box.
The prosecution is based on CCTV footage, statements from the accused, seizures, and electronic evidence uncovered during the investigation.
The investigating officer (IO) of the case, Ayodhya circle officer (CO) Ashutosh Tiwari, stated that between April 27 and June 5, more than 105 incidents of alleged withdrawal or concealment of offerings were captured on CCTV. This footage was combined with the accused’s activities and other evidence to form the basis for the investigation. The police claim to have sufficient evidence against all eight arrested accused.
