BJP slams AAP govt in Punjab over ‘repressive’ employee policy
New Delhi, August 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, alleging that the Punjab government is adopting a repressive approach to suppress the demands of employees.
The BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said in a press conference at the party headquarters on Monday that the Mann government in Punjab is adopting a repressive approach to suppress the demands of employees.
He said that government employees, including contract employees and pensioners, are agitating for demands such as regularization, dearness allowance, and the old pension scheme. According to him, Chief Minister Mann has said that there will be no talks with the employees until the strike ends.
Citing a government order dated August 29, he alleged that a list of employees involved in the strike has been prepared and action has been taken against them. Bhatia targeted the Mann government, saying that in a democracy, employees have the right to protest for their demands.
He questioned Chief Minister Mann about the government’s guarantee of fulfilling the promises it made to employees. What roadmap does the Punjab government have for implementing the old pension scheme, and when will employees receive their pending dearness allowance?
He also referred to the teachers’ protests, alleging that teachers are being lathi-charged during the Mann government’s tenure.
He said the BJP will strongly raise the issues of the demands of Punjab government employees and their alleged treatment. Bhatia also launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and senior party leaders, alleging that no one is more anti-Dalit than Rahul Gandhi.
Referring to the Dalit controversy involving Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, he said that Kharge spoke of his insult based on some facts, but remained silent on the issue for three weeks.
Bhatia also referred to the statements of Congress leader Udit Raj and alleged that he had made objectionable remarks about former President Ram Nath Kovind and President Draupadi Murmu. He said that there is no respect for leaders outside the Gandhi family in the Congress.
Bhatia accused the Congress of playing “petty politics” regarding the upcoming elections.
