Block heads in UP appointed admins for routine work; Policy decisions reserved for govt
Lucknow, July 19: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has appointed block heads as administrators, just like village heads and district panchayat presidents. On Sunday, an order was issued appointing all 826 block heads as administrators.
Administrators will only handle routine work
According to the order issued, block heads appointed as administrators will only perform routine work and will not make any policy decisions. If any policy matter arises, the area panchayat will send the relevant proposal to the government through the district magistrate of their district. Thus, policy proposals will be finalized at the government level.
This is the first time in the state that the government has appointed district panchayat presidents, block heads, and village heads as administrators. According to the Panchayati Raj Department, the first meeting of the block heads was held on July 20, 2021. Consequently, their five-year term ends on Sunday.
