Sidharth–Tamannaah’s ‘The Vvaan’ opens strong with ₹8 cr day 1
Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer ‘The Vvaan’ has made its presence felt at the box office with its release. The film earned around Rs 8 crore on the first day.
According to bollywood tracker Sacnilk, ‘The Vvaan’ has surpassed the opening of around 33 recent releases including Akshay Kumar’s ‘Haiwaan’, Sunny Deol’s ‘Partition 1947’, ‘Vibe’ and ‘Dayara’. Although the film has received mixed response from the audience and critics, the initial earnings have raised the expectations of the producers.
In ‘The Vvaan’, Sidharth Malhotra plays Rishi and Tamannaah Bhatia plays his wife Mamta. The story revolves around Rishi, who returns to his native village in Bihar with his wife to sell his ancestral land. The film also stars Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, Anup Soni, and Manish Paul. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, the film is produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Meanwhile, Nani’s “The Paradise” is also maintaining its strong hold at the box office. The film grossed ₹14.90 crore (US$1.49 billion) in India on its second day, bringing its total to ₹61.15 crore (US$6.11 billion). However, the film’s earnings on the second day were lower than the first.
“The Paradise” had a strong opening of ₹34.65 crore (US$3.46 billion). Consequently, the strong opening of “The Vvaan” has made the box office competition between the two films interesting.
