CM Yogi blames Congress for 1947 partition, calls it power‑driven act
Lucknow, August 14: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath fiercely targeted the Congress party on the occasion of Partition Horrors Memorial Day held in Lucknow on Friday. He said that the Partition of 1947 is one of the darkest chapters in the history of world humanity. Yogi said that this shameful act was carried out by the Congress, which was desperate for power. The country was divided for power.
Yogi Adityanath led a silent march from the Gandhi statue to Lok Bhavan in Lucknow on the Partition Horrors Memorial Day. At the event held at Lok Bhavan on this occasion, families affected by the tragedy of Partition shared their experiences. In his address, Chief Minister Yogi said that the partition of India was a tragedy and the country is still paying the price for it.
He alleged that vote bank matters to the Congress party and that the Congress betrayed the country for power. Millions of Hindus were displaced from their own homeland, their birthplace. Millions of Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains were massacred. There was no hearing at any level. No one listened. An eternal nation was torn apart. This day inspires us to learn from these dark chapters of history, because merely remembering them will not solve the problem.
Yogi said, “Why did this problem arise, who caused it, how many culprits were punished, and how long will India continue to pay the price for it? These questions remain with the same force today.” Therefore, history is not just a syllabus for examinations. History also provides us with an opportunity to feel proud of glorious moments and correct past mistakes. This is also the spirit behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Memorial Day. Today, the entire country is united in commemorating the horrific tragedy of Partition. This is one of the darkest chapters in the history of world humanity.
He alleged that the country gained independence in 1947. He was shocked that even territory that Pakistan supporters hadn’t even asked for was forcibly handed over to Pakistan. We all know that Sindh was Hindu-majority, Sindhi-majority, but it was handed over to Pakistan. Similarly, Punjabi-majority territory was also forcibly handed over to Pakistan. Even today, if you go to the Bengal border, you will see Hindu villages. What a plight they are in. Look at that tragedy. This shameful act was committed by no one else but the Congress party, desperate for power, which this country blindly trusted. They paid the price for this trust in the form of betrayal. I appeal to all the citizens of the state to explain this to their current and future generations.
Yogi Adityanath said that those who were silent in 1947, who were voiceless, were eyeing power. Their actions, which came at the expense of the country, are still the same today. You must have seen the massacre of Hindus in Bangladesh a few days ago. These parties were silent even then. If they had reacted, they feared they might lose their vote bank. The massacre of Dalit Hindus is irrelevant to them. They were silent even then and will remain silent in the future as well. Pursuing their vested interests, they will betray the country by making the center of power their personal property and making power a family legacy. This is how they spread anarchy and chaos.
Yogi Adityanath said that the country for whose independence great revolutionaries like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rajguru, Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Roshan Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, and Tatya Tope fought, dismembered the country before independence. They continued to pursue their political interests. India is still paying the price for that. These people are still trying to prove their honesty. It seems as if without them, India would not have existed. Those who, for selfish reasons, caused the partition of the country have now become all-powerful. All schemes, establishments, institutions, and places are named after their families. The revolutionaries have been forgotten. Their actions remain the same even today. Yogi said that when Prime Minister Modi made provisions to provide land for the suffering, displaced Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddhist families from neighboring countries to live and earn a living in India, they protested. They even tried to destabilize the country on that issue. Therefore, everyone should remember this day and raise awareness.
