
Farmers are the foundation of UP’s economic strength, says CM Yogi
Lucknow, October 10: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath apprised the people of the state about the unprecedented changes in the agricultural sector since 2017. On Saturday, he described the farmer as the foundation of the state’s economy’s strength and prosperity.
The Chief Minister wrote on X that under the successful guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state’s double-engine government is providing farmers with access to everything from seeds to markets. Before 2017, the farmer, who was mired in debt, poverty, and helplessness, forced to run around middlemen, is now debt-free and is benefiting from improved seeds, irrigation, and the MSP and PM Samman Nidhi through DBT.
Chief Minister also stated that irrigation projects that had been stalled for decades have been completed. The state contributes 21 percent to the country’s total food grain production. The agricultural growth rate has increased from 8 percent to 18 percent. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in the production of milk, sugarcane, wheat, etc.
Chief Minister stated that, respecting the hard work of the farmer and ensuring a fair price for his produce, more than 519 lakh metric tons of paddy was procured from over 80 lakh farmers in the state between 2017 and March 2026, and direct payments of over ₹1,03,833 crore were made. In keeping with this commitment, the support price for paddy has been increased by ₹71 per quintal this time as well.
Yogi Adityanath described the farmer, the food-producing farmer, as the foundation of the state’s economic strength and prosperity for the double-engine government. He stated that protecting the rights of the farmer and ensuring his well-being is our top priority.
