Jubin Nautiyal’s father Ram Sharan Nautiyal quits BJP, joins Congress in Delhi

New Delhi, October 19: Ram Sharan Nautiyal, father of playback singer Jubin Nautiyal, formally joined the Congress party at its headquarters in the presence of Uttarakhand in‑charge Kumari Selja, state president Ganesh Godiyal, CWC member Gurdeep Singh Sappal, and Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, days after quitting the BJP.

The Congress General Secretary and Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja raised the issues of the Election Commission, the Ankita Bhandari murder case, and alleged corruption in the Uttarakhand government. She alleged that democratic institutions in the country are being questioned, and Rahul Gandhi is continuously raising the issue of alleged irregularities in the voter list. She said that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has been objected to by the opposition and the public, as well as two Election Commissioners.

Referring to the Ankita Bhandari murder case, Shailaja said that despite the alleged VIPs’ names and audio recordings surfacing, not all aspects of the case have been investigated. She alleged that Dushyant Gautam, who was discussed as an alleged VIP, was not questioned. She also questioned Gautam’s appointment as the Governor of Sikkim.

Shailaja also mentioned the alleged corruption allegations leveled by the husband of Uttarakhand Minister Rekha Arya. She questioned why the minister had not been removed from his post despite the allegations and what action Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was taking in this matter. She said that the Congress would protest in the state on these issues. The party has also announced a program to surround the Assembly during the Assembly session on October 27th and 28th.

State Congress President Ganesh Godiyal welcomed Ram Sharan Nautiyal to the party, saying that his joining is expected to strengthen the Congress party. He also mentioned the allegations made by Minister Rekha Arya’s husband regarding his alleged benami property and stake in a company. Godiyal asked the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax Department and Central Bureau of Investigation what action has been taken to investigate these allegations.
