Dhuniya community youth seeks police action against Turk members over Namaz diktat in Sambhal

Sambhal, July 24: A shocking incident has emerged from Mandli Samaspur village in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh. A Muslim youth has alleged that some members of his own community have prevented him and his family from offering namaz in the mosque. The victim, Mohammad Wasim, met Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi on Friday and demanded action.

Wasim alleged that some members of the village’s Turk community are preventing him from offering namaz in the mosque. He told he belongs to the Dhuniya (Bunna) community and is being discriminated against because of this.

The victim alleged that the mosque’s Mutawalli, Atiq Ahmed, his son Shane Alam, and several others have been socially boycotting his family for the past year and a half. Furthermore, they are being prevented from receiving zakat (religious donations) and attending religious events.

According to Wasim, there are five or six families from his community in the village, some of whom are with the opposing party, while others are not allowed to offer prayers in the mosque as per their traditions.

Describing the matter as serious, Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said that if a person’s fundamental rights are being violated, it is a very serious matter.

He has directed the concerned police station in-charge to register a case under the relevant sections after taking the victim’s complaint and ensure that he can exercise his religious rights without any hindrance. The SP stated that according to preliminary information, the dispute has been ongoing for a long time, and previous attempts at reconciliation at the police level were unsuccessful. Now, the matter will be resolved through legal action.
