Electricity department imposes 10% fuel adjustment charge in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, May 30: After the recent hike in petroleum prices, electricity consumers in Uttar Pradesh face another burden as the Electricity Department has ordered an additional 10% charge on bills under the ‘Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge’.

The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has implemented an additional 10% ‘Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge’ (FPPAS) on electricity bills in the state. This implementation will increase the expenses of electricity consumers.

According to this order of the Electricity Department, consumers will have to pay 10% more on their electricity bills from June due to the fuel surcharge.

It’s worth noting that in June, when electricity consumption naturally increases due to the heat, a 10 percent additional amount in electricity bills will affect millions of consumers. It’s being reported that the cost of producing and purchasing electricity has increased. To compensate for this, UPPCL has decided to impose a fuel surcharge in June. This amount will be collected from consumers.
