‘Gen‑Alpha hopes for good days’: Mayawati pushes for quality education in UP and beyond

Lucknow, August 20: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has come out in support of the nationwide “Fix the Schools” campaign. Expressing concern over children’s education, she has urged the governments of all states, including Uttar Pradesh, to improve the education system.

In a post on the social media platform X on Thursday, BSP chief Mayawati wrote that children born after 2013, i.e., Gen-Alpha, yearn for better education. They have pinned their hopes on the government for “good days.” In addition to these students, their parents are also constantly concerned about a good education for their children’s future. They face considerable difficulties to provide them with a better education so that their children do not face the hardships they are facing.

But the harsh ground reality of the deteriorating condition of schools across the country, especially in Uttar Pradesh and other states in northern India, has made them increasingly vocal. This is why they are enthusiastically participating in the nationwide “Fix the Schools” campaign of the Gen-G (Cockroach Janata Party).

Mayawati said that it is a matter of great sadness and concern that innocent children, who should be enjoying their lives and studying, are forced to struggle on the streets for even the basic facilities for their primary schooling.

The BSP chief added that due to the revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s call to “be educated,” education, especially school education, has always been a matter of particular concern for the people of the “Bahujan Samaj.” In line with this, our party, the BSP, has devoted full attention to the welfare and education of these oppressed and exploited members of society, who have been consistently neglected by both central and state governments. In all four BSP governments I have led in Uttar Pradesh, the BSP has ensured that, in accordance with the humanitarian and welfare-oriented Indian Constitution created by Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, all these families can enjoy a life of self-respect, livelihood, education, and equality.

The BSP supremo said, “But it is a matter of great sadness and concern that, instead of paying proper attention to improving the government school system, all governments have largely ignored it. A conspiracy is underway to render the entire education system largely inactive, much like the reservation system for these classes. In this process, thousands of government schools are being closed, which the BSP has consistently opposed.”

Mayawati said that the little Gen-Alphas are now becoming increasingly vocal and agitating over the acute shortage of basic necessities like school buildings, teachers, drinking water, toilets, and sanitation. She urged all governments in Uttar Pradesh and other states to immediately address the needs and demands of the innocent Gen-Alpha children for better education, with full sympathy, and with the right intentions and policies. It would be appropriate if any government completely refrained from using force against them.
