
GBC-5: CM Yogi directs officials to complete incentive process on time
Lucknow, October 8: Preparations for Groundbreaking Ceremony-5 have intensified to bring investment proposals to fruition in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the preparations for the ceremony and the progress of proposed investment projects in a high-level meeting on Thursday.
As of now, investments worth more than Rs 7.55 lakh crore are ready to be realised through GBC-5 across approximately 7,000 projects in all 75 districts of the state. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure timely completion of all project approvals, land, infrastructure, and other processes, ensuring no obstacles are faced in implementing the investment proposals.
Invest UP informed the meeting that the proposed projects include approximately 3,500 projects through departments, over 3,500 projects linked to the Investment Sarathi portal at the district level, and over 100 major projects through Invest UP. Regionally, investments of approximately ₹2.75 lakh crore are proposed in Western Uttar Pradesh, over ₹1.2 lakh crore in Purvanchal, over ₹80,000 crore in Madhyanchal, and over ₹60,000 crore in Bundelkhand. Major projects include approximately 90 projects with investments of over ₹1,000 crore, totaling approximately ₹2.75 lakh crore.
Sector-wise investment proposals include data centers, energy, real estate, infrastructure, IT and electronics, food processing, steel and cement, pharma and chemicals, textiles and apparel, automobiles, and tourism. Investment proposals are estimated at approximately ₹1.8 lakh crore in the data center sector, over ₹1.15 lakh crore in the energy sector, and over ₹75,000 crore in real estate. Investment proposals include approximately ₹2.75 lakh crore in the manufacturing sector and approximately ₹1.5 lakh crore in infrastructure sectors.
The meeting also reviewed the progress from the first to the fourth edition of the groundbreaking ceremony. It was reported that of the more than 16,000 projects included in GBCs 1 to 4, more than 8,000 have entered commercial operation, while more than 8,000 are in various stages of implementation.
The Chief Minister stated that groundbreaking ceremonies are not only an opportunity to launch investment projects; they are an important means of boosting employment, production, and economic activity in the state. He directed that department-wise monitoring of the preparations and necessary approvals for the projects being included in GBC-5 be conducted. Regular communication with investors should be maintained to address their concerns on a priority basis.
While reviewing the disbursement of financial incentives to investors, the Chief Minister directed that no investor should have to make unnecessary rounds of offices to receive the approved incentives. The entire process should be transparent and timely, and incentive funds should be made available to eligible investors within the stipulated timeframe. The meeting also reviewed the approved budget for investment incentives, payments made so far, and distributions expected in the coming period.
The recent road accidents on various expressways in the state were also reviewed. Expressing grief over the accidents, the Chief Minister directed a technical and practical review of their causes. He directed the identification of black spots, effective control of overspeeding, visibility management during fog, monitoring of security cameras and radars, and effective vehicle fitness and driver alertness checks at toll plazas. UPDA, the Transport Department, and the police were also asked to develop a coordinated security system and work on a plan to develop trauma centers along the expressway with the cooperation of the private sector.
